+++ RAW TONIGHT AT 9PM ON USA NETWORK. Maybe they do some 'repair' and explain why the Board of Directors are total heels and allowing business matters to be flushed down the toilet. I say that due to WWE putting something on Facebook asking their fans to tell the BOD's what action should be taken against "Big" Johnny & Brock Lesnar for their actions. The interesting thing about reading those comments/suggestions to the BOD's is that it makes most wrestling fans look STUPID. A lot of the people that responded did so as if the storyline was legit and while that may be what WWE wanted, it was scary reading most of them because of the over the top nature of these people actually thinking the storyline is 'legit'. It wasn't the type of comment with someone 'playing along' with the storyline while totally getting the fact it wasn't real. It was to the point of these people making me afraid to be anywhere near a pro wrestling show based on people being delusional. I am sure
we all remember in the glory days of pro wrestling, the old woman that hit a southern wrestler over the head with her purse on a WCCW show from Dalls (I think). It is that type of taking the storyline seriously, scary. One woman said she has considered not allowing her kids to watch WWE anymore because Brock Lesnar has 'taken things to far'. Another equated the characters of "Big" Johnny & Brock Lesnar as being "bullys" and thought since WWE was involved with an "anti-bullying" campaign outside of WWE that it sends the wrong message to children to keep them on the payroll (good point for a company that doesn't require all of their heels to be "bullys" to make the friction between good guy and bad guy work).
It became painfully obvious if WWE was looking for people to interact and give them some good ideas for direction changes inviolving these storyline's they got 99% lunacy and 1% smart reactions. Most wanted both "fired" and most wanted Teddy Long put in 100% control. Some wanted names like Mick Foley or Steve Austin brought back to restore order. In the end it seems logical for WWE to consider removing "Big" Johnny from power because it was apparent (even with the smart responses) that no one wants him in power, although Vince McMahon will pretty much take those responses to mean that the heel is doing his job and think it means he has life still left in the storyline. Some were telling McMahon straight forward what we all know, that the heel GM has run its course but they were the minority which translates in to McMahon thinking it doesn't matter if a small fraction of the audience is turned off by the heel GM because the rest aren't yet (which is true). But that is how
you erode a fan base and fraction an audience. Running with something for way to long based on the majority supporting it while the minority doesn't. And running a heel GM storyline on one brand and keeping a babyface GM on the other brand would allow the fans that dislike the heel GM crap to migrate to one brand over the other, always made sense.. well that has changed.
The end result here is as of last week there was no plan set in motion to remove "Big" Johnny from power, even though he had done something they made clear the new people in power were not allowed to do anymore. And as one fan did point out it is not as if Vince himself didn't do the same thing that "Big" Johnny did to Cena and Vince did it continually to babyfaces and all it resulted in was a blow off program between Vince and that talent. While that is a good point to argue to support "Big" Johnny not being removed from power, the fact remains that by WWE's own storyline it was said that HHH was being removed from power because he was not able to separate his "wrestler" tendencies with his GM tendencies and the BOD's did not want that dynamic any longer thus making the order that the next permanent GM couldn't be a McMahon or anyone that did that stuff. So now "Big" Johnny has gone totally beserk and done what the BOD's said was not allowed and he wasn't fired. He got H
HH removed from power because HHH maintained an 'unsafe working environment' for the heels and yet "Big" Johnny has orchestrated an "unsafe working environment" for John Cena the last three weeks and yet nothing has been mentioned about the BOD's being upset with his ongoing abuse of power.
This is the sole reason why WWE lacks credibility. Running storylines that go against their own storyline developments. If they explained that the major force on the WWE BOD's was an evil HEEL himself, then they get a free pass. But they have not attempted to do that. If they made it clear that the WWE BOD's was being steered solely by McMahon himself then they have an "out" but if that was the case they trump their own storyline based on the WWE BOD's removing McMahon as the GM. So they can not have it both ways. And they aren't going to invent another high powered evil heel to explain any of this. So we are stuck with a storyline that makes literally no sense and isn't going to be repaired. The only logical way to fix it is to take "Big" Johnny's power away, at least until after the Cena match. Add stipulations to that match that if Cena wins then "Big" Johnny & "People Power" is gone and if Cena loses then Cena is gone (obviously that gives them a way to get Cena o
ff television so he can recover from injuries, etc). But time will tell.
The other thing that is interesting and may have forced WWE's hand is the HUGE spike in the ratings last week, which was almost totally atrributed to Brock Lesnar's return to WWE and nothing else. It showed that while fans may not have bought the "Extreme Rules" PPV there was at least a ton of interest for some fans to return to see what had happened. And that is GOOD news because they saw the Lesnar-HHH angle, which was done way beyond perfection. But they also were left thinking that Brock Lesnar was "fired" by the way Michael Cole was told to handle the angle. And when Lesnar left, so did the spike audience.
So the CHANGE that may be made is that Lesnar needs to be back on TV. And if that is the case then they have to figure out a way to explain why he hasn't been terminated from his contract with out making him look like a stooge. He can't all of a sudden return and say, gee, I want my old terms as HHH offered. Because that compromises his character. The only way to explain this is with the truth. Have it mandated by the WWE BOD's that Brock Lesnar's second contract is valid because they can't risk the threat of a lawsuit and also because he is a DRAW. Then they run with the proposed HHH v. Lesnar match at the next BIG PPB (Summerslam) hoping that pops the buy rate to incredible levels (which is possible).
+++ STEVE AUSTIN INKS WITH CMT NETWORK. Steve Austin signed a deal with CMT Network to create a number of projects over the next few years. Austin has his own production company called "Broken Skull Productions" and has apparently been toying with a number of different concepts for new reality tv shows. One of them has Austin returning to television next month to work on a show called "Redneck Island". The concept has 12 contestants competing for $100,000 on an island (yeah I know that sounds like a real unique concept right? Nothing at all like "Survivor". Well CMT gave Austin the green light.).
It will be interesting to see how (if at all) this effects Austin's deal with WWE as everyone knows with WWE wanting to debut their own Network they would really love to have Austin on board with them. But his deal with CMT is likely going to make it difficult for Austin to have a lot of interaction with TWN involving "Reality" based television concepts that are outside of WWE. As always the ratings for the new show will be a topic of discussion, if not only to see if they pull it better ratings then WWE Tough Enough did with Austin as the host of that reality television show.
+++ HOGAN & BISCHOFF. Hey TNA is down to an average of around 0.98 these days. But don't worry, Hogan has a new idea (not really) that is going to turn around TNA's fate, just wait. And if he can't he claims he is leaving for good. He likely was working the fans when he said that part. Because he hasn't done anything since he joined TNA to turn around the company.
Yet he is still proud to take their money. I don't understand why TNA is not aware of the fact that Hogan & Bischoff have not done a thing to help their cause. Someone needs to step in and fire Dixie Carter as well as she has shown no ability to actually make proper financial decisions in regards to TNA.
+++ SCOTT STEINER TAKES ON ERIC BISCHOFF VIA TWITTER. Steiner has promised to reveal Bischoff's testimony in the infamous "Gold Club" strip club trial that happened in Atlanta, Georgia a number of years back since Bischoff responded to Steiner's tweets with negative information about Steiner. Bischoff can't win this war and a lot of people are grinning ear to ear these days because Steiner is finally giving Bischoff what everyone has wanted someone to be able to give him. It will be very interesting to see what Steiner does or does tweet in relation to the strip club testimony.
+++ HHH APPEARS IN RING WITH FLOYD MAYWEATHER SANS INJURY. Don't worry WWE.COM has already repaired the damage in their minds to WWE's storyline as they explained HHH is actually wearing a 'brace' that allows him to appear not to have any injuries. It boggled a lot of people's minds why HHH would make such a high profile appearance with out selling the storyline of being hurt by Brock Lesnar, but I guess those in his position don't have to do what the rest of the talent is required to do (as talent has been asked to work 100% of the time to make believe the storylines are real outside of WWE and yet the guy that is the next in line to take over the reigns of the entire company doesn't have to follow those rules).
+++ WWE.COM GETS HEAT. Vince McMahon met with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie over Wrestlemania week end but there was not anyone available from WWE.COM to cover the meeting. That made Vince McMahon blow up at those involved with the day to day task of running WWE.COM and changes are expected to be made (someone likely gets fired for the mess up).
+++ VINCE NOT HAPPY ABOUT OTHER RECENT MISTAKES. Vince McMahon was not happy with the John Cena promo making it on the end of the PPV and doesn't understand why it actually made it on the PPV itself as it should have been one of those promo's that was done for the live audience and not the television audience. Someone made the call to shoot the promo and end the PPV with an in ring promo that contradicted the storyline which had just happened moments ago. McMahon was as upset as Brock Lesnar was with the promo happening and airing on PPV because that was never the plan. John Cena took minimum heat for the promo because the people in charge of putting in on the PPV were the ones that took most of the heat from McMahon. Some feel the double cross of Lesnar by Cena at the end of the PPV was a receipt from years ago (because of how Lesnar left the company) but don't know how high up on the pecking order it went (even HHH was upset with the way Lesnar left the company high an
d dry so there are some that feel no one was that concerned with the promo airing on the PPV).
McMahon then carried over his bad mood in to the mishap with the finish of the Chris Jericho v. Big Show "beat the clock" match on RAW. The finish was supposed to push Jericho as having beat Miz's time so as to solidify that he was still in the same position as he typically was in but the ring official botched the finish and they had to do and 'end around' and announce that Jericho & Show were both eliminated from the 'beat the clock' deal. McMahon wasn't happy with the end result, while it was never set for Jericho to win the "beat the clock" and it was always going to be Daniel Bryan winning out they wanted Bryan to actually have beat Jericho's attempt as well. In the end the terrible finish of Jericho's match rubbed some fans the wrong way.
Vince's answer to make certain these string of negatives stop is to take TOTAL control over everything that is okay'd to be on WWE TV. That is both good and bad. It is good when Vince is "ON" and bad when he isn't. And the problem lately with Vince is that he has been off more then on and hasn't shown the same type of abilities to know what is or is not good tv these days (as he has in the past). Some still think he should call it a day and hand over the reigns to HHH sooner then later.
+++ ROB ZIMMERMAN LEAVES WWE. Zimmerman was the Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, Media Relations and Public Affairs for WWE. He left the company this past Friday.
+++ GOLDUST RELEASED. WWE released Dustin Runnels from his contract. He has been working with WWE as a 'road agent' and there was an incident that happened recently on a Smackdown show that caused WWE to terminate Runnels from his contract (no details are available at this time to explain what had happened that caused WWE to believe it was in their best interest to severe business relations with Runnels).
